Iran’s Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations Mohammad Khazaei said the recent US allegations against Iran aimed at distracting world public opinion as well as the American people from the adverse problems the United States is now facing.

Making the remark in an exclusive interview with IRNA, Khazaei dismissed as baseless the US allegations regarding Iran's plans to assassinate the Saudi Arabia Ambassador in the US.

Khazaei said the US-made scenario against the Islamic Republic of Iran aimed at creating rift among the Islamic countries as well as Iran’s neighbors.

He stressed that “nullifying this scenario calls for even more vigilance and cooperation among Islamic states and Iran's neighbors.”

He noted that some American officials suddenly came up with baseless and false accusations against Iran on Tuesday which were rejected by many analysts and experts even inside the US due to their hollowness.

Just a few minutes after the allegations were publicized, he said, the Iranian envoy office in New York took speedy measures to reject the allegations by correspondence with the UN Secretary General, the Security Council head and the chairman of the UN General Assembly and voiced Iran's most strong objections to the act.
